University Hospitals Tees Group Model Community Research

Healthwatch teams across Tees Valley, County Durham and North Yorkshire worked together to support community engagement around the development of the University Hospitals Tees Group Model. This work was carried out in partnership with North Tees & Hartlepool and South Tees NHS Foundation Trusts and reflects the voices of over 380 people across the region.

The final report, published in March 2025, was shared with University Hospitals Tees and the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. It has already informed the development of the Group’s clinical strategy and priorities for improvement, including commitments to reduce waiting times, improve communication, and modernise facilities.

While the strategy is still evolving, Healthwatch’s contribution has helped ensure that patient and carer voices are embedded in the process. The Trust has committed to ongoing engagement and has welcomed Healthwatch’s support in continuing to reflect community needs.

A ‘You Said, We Did’ event was delivered in Hartlepool with plans for a future event in March 2026 to share findings and ensure communities are kept informed.
