Lisa Bowyer Leads the Way with Inclusive Health Care Café
🏥 Introducing the Health Care Café
Lisa has established a Health Care Café within a local library—a welcoming, informal space designed specifically for individuals who may find traditional healthcare settings overwhelming. Held monthly, these sessions offer:
- Health information and signposting
- Height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure checks
- Easy-read leaflets and accessible health education
- Direct communication with GP surgeries to share health data
This initiative ensures that people with learning disabilities receive the support they need in a setting that feels safe and familiar.
💬 A Person-Centred Approach
Lisa’s approach is deeply person-centred, focusing on making individuals feel at ease and working at a pace that suits them. Her warm, compassionate manner helps reduce anxiety and builds trust—key factors in encouraging engagement with healthcare services.
🤝 Building Community Connections
The Health Care Café is a collaborative effort, run in partnership with the local library and supported by the wider Primary Care Network (PCN). Lisa works closely with social prescribers and health and well-being coaches to provide holistic support, ensuring that attendees benefit from a wide range of services.
