STOMP in Action: Watch How Medication Reviews Should Really Be Done

🌟 Spotlight on STOMP and Skills for Life 🌟
A new video has been created to help people with a learning disability understand what to expect during a medication review. The aim is to make the process clearer, reduce anxiety, and ensure individuals feel supported in getting the right care.
This powerful and informative video was co-produced by a group of people with lived experience. They took part in planning meetings, wrote the script in their own words, and were supported to film at a local GP surgery. Their involvement ensured the final product was both authentic and accessible.
One participant shared,
“Being part of the STOMP project has been brilliant. I love being able to use my voice and experiences to help others. It was good writing our own scripts and a great experience filming in the GP surgery.”
Another added,
“I think the film will help people with a learning disability get the best support with their medication and that makes me feel very proud.”
This initiative is part of the STOMP campaign. STOMP provides specialist support to work in partnership with primary care colleagues—educating, advising, and supporting them to deliver better care within their practices.
At its heart, STOMP is about collaboration: making sure people receive the right medication, only when they need it. This approach has already led to numerous medication reductions and significant improvements in quality of life. It also helps address health inequalities by ensuring people are seen, heard, and supported.
To complement the video, the group also created a poster, an easy-read leaflet, and a carers’ leaflet. These resources are designed to be displayed in GP surgeries to raise awareness and promote this valuable co-produced work.
Together, these tools aim to make healthcare more inclusive, supportive, and empowering for everyone.
