Chloe Deighton and Emily Bean - A Way Out

Why did you decide to become a Community Champion?
The reason we would like to become Community Champions is because the people we work with face multiple disadvantages and are often highly vulnerable and excluded. We believe that everyone deserves to have their voice heard and their needs met, and we strive to be the voice those people need when there is often nobody in their corner.
How does your role help people in South Tees?
A Way Out has been working in the local community for over 22 years, supporting women, young people and families who experience multiple disadvantages, stigma and abuse. We believe passionately that all women deserve to be safe. Since we were first established, we have been working with women involved in street sex working to reduce the harm they face.
Our Changing Futures project covers Middlesbrough and Redcar Cleveland and supports both women and men who face multiple disadvantages to live lives free from harm, abuse and exploitation.
